Calgary, AB

Hello everyone,

We're in the company of the wonderful Carla and Kirk in Calgary's SW, and feeling super thankful for home-cooked meals and family time. Yesterday was Kirk's birthday and tonight was family dinner. Holy crow, did we get spoiled! Kirk's folks put on a huge Sunday dinner spread featuring Alberta steak and seared tuna, with more trimmings then room on our plates. We really felt at home tonight and are very thankful for that feeling, being far from our own families.

Last night's sleep was splendid, however, we were disappointed that we could not see the giant moon (we hear it was quite the sight in Toronto). That was due to the snow clouds that rolled in and left about 2 new inches of snow for Banff, which was a beautiful scene to wake up to, and not so bad to clean off of the car.

Tomorrow we will make an early start and head southwest with the destination of Nelson, BC, which will be province number five of our adventure. We are so happy to be able to stay with our great friend Samantha's parents. Nelson is surrounded by provincial parks, so we plan to stay there a few nights.

We're sorry that we have not posted photos in a few days. That is because of poor internet connections and lack of time. But soon we'll get caught up and you'll get a glimpse of what we have been up to.

Good night everyone,
Lauren and Colin

  1. Hi to you both,
I've been reading the blog and it sounds amazing. While I was sleeping in during March Break you guys have been enjoying winter in the Rockies. I missed you this morning Colin as you weren't here to move the clock forward one hour. Sounds like your trip is moving ahead in leaps and bounds. I can't believe you're already in BC. Looking forward to hearing more about your trip. Jane :)
