Staying with Grant and Shawna has been so wonderful. They both spent the day with us, showing us around and filling our brains with the wonders that are Nelson. This place really is magical!
Artist and musician haven, the rod ironwork all over town is stunning. The stores are very competitive, and it is a coffee culture which means organic fair trade coffee EVERYWHERE!
The day started off with a gorgeous breakfast made for us by our adopted parents (we hope Sam and Vanessa are willing to share their folks) followed by garden tour at the lookout park and a little shopping trip to the outdoor stores and Wiccan supply shop. Then home for lunch and and to gear up, (new threads to break in!) then off to Nancy Greene Mountain for a snowshoe adventure. Okay, so we have been snowshoeing before, all over Toronto, but we found out that we have never been using snowshoes to their full potential. 6 feet on average, and in some spots we figured over 10 feet of snow was between us and the ground. Maturing trees were at out knees and the mountains were all around us. The smiles on our faces were big and warm enough to melt the snow, it was so satisfying.
One more sleep in our comfortable bed in Nelson, then off to Vancouver tomorrow!
Talk to you tomorrow,
Colin and Lauren

Wicked! I don't know that I've ever seen that kind of snow?! I've definitely never been snowshoeing. Sounds like you had a great day.
ReplyDeleteHi Guys,
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry we never got to meet up before your departure (Lauren shared the big news) but thanks for including me in your email!
I've subsequently been really enjoying living your adventures vicariously. The blog posts, and especially spectacular photos, are wonderful.
Yesterday here in the GTA we got a final dusting of snow, maybe 5 cm, and everyone is complaining - hehe - not nearly enough for snowshoeing :)
