After an uneventful day of driving we arrived in Edmonton to the open arms and great smiles of Megan Fisher. Again seeing a familiar face on this cross country journey is so heart warming and makes us feel like being home, even though nothing looks the same and liquor is sold on every street corner.
Okay so we are in Alberta, what should we be doing with ourselves? Eating beef while wearing cowboy boots and a 10 gallon hat and sitting on a horse - Dylan's idea. Well we did the first part, we eat local beef, true be told Lauren and Megan had beef i went for the ribs and no one was disappointed.
Back in the late 70's Lauren's parents (Cathy and Kevin) moved to Edmonton, a few years later, while still living in Edmonton, their family grew to three. They lived in Edmonton for a few years before returning to Toronto. So yes Lauren is an Albertan and this is her first trip back to her birth place. Ever since we crossed into Alberta Lauren has been trying to find something that she recognizes, but to no success as of yet.
Well again Lauren is asleep now and I too am reaching the end of my cognitive abilities so it is off to bed we go. Tonight we are staying with Megan and her brother Kyle. We're lucky to have their support.
Tomorrow we are off to Banff via Jasper (about a 9 hour drive), we'll be staying there for a few days.
OH CRAP, i forgot to tell you all - we saw two herds of Bison today.
now off to bed.
Talk to you tomorrow night,
Colin
