We are tired, stinky and so very happy about our week away in the north of Yukon, past the Arctic Circle and into the Northwest Territories.
There are tonnes of photos to upload and lots of stories to get onto the blog but all that will happen after a great night' sleep in a real bed (in a heated building) that is after we all showers and hug the doggies.
The long and short of it is we are home safe and sound.

...And we're off!
Hopefully it's obvious that the lack of blog posts lately means that we are having a great time outdoors. LK and JP are back from Kluane, our camping gear and coffee makers are packed up, and we are all finishing a delicious breakfast of eggs and arugula. We'll be in Dawson tonight, somewhere along the Dempster highway on Saturday night, and in Inuvik, NWT on Sunday!
When we return to computer-land, we have tons to share from the last week about chicken harvesting, bike joring, friendly neighbours, and a guest blog post, :)
Bye for now,
Love Lauren and Colin

They're here!
Our pals Lauren K and JP arrived safe and sound yesterday, and proceeded to win over the doggies by stocking their pockets with treats. Worked like a charm! We all went out on a walk around Robinson last night in the dark, and then snuggled under a couple layers of blankets (separately!) to catch some zzzs on a cold August night. They are out with Colin, gallivanting around Whitehorse while I work, and then we will probably head back to our place for a home-cooked meal and a good quality hang-out.
Colin's got some great stories (and a gory video) from a chicken harvest that he participated in this weekend. Stay tuned!

Happy August 1st and Simcoe Day for our Toronto Friends and Family
Today marks the start of our fifth month in the Yukon, and 6 months since we left Ontario - it is hard to believe that it has already been this long. Looking back through the blog postings and through all the photos that haven't made it onto the website, it has been an adventure of a lifetime - but in many ways it has only begun.
So at the beginning of the last month in a typical summer, we have been asking locals what to expect in August. An often heard answer is, it can snow any month in the Yukon (we guess that includes August); we are told that it can be hit or miss for good weather, but we are headed into fall now. The days are still long enough that we don't get to see stars (because it doesn't get dark enough), but maybe soon if we stay up late enough we will get to wish upon the first star of about 4 months - looking forward to that moment for sure.
