We went our separate ways this Saturday- Colin to Grizzly Valley, where he helped with another chicken harvest. Lauren opted for a simpler, less grisly day, and stayed home in Mt Lorne with the doggies, and collected cranberries and read Joy of Cooking in the backyard while the clothes dried on the line.

Fireweed continues to amaze us, with its yellow and red leaves |
This beautiful plant has an ugly name and personality- Northern Bastard Toadflax is parasitic, taking nutrients from the roots of neighbouring plants by attaching its sucker-like organs to the roots of bearberry and asters |

Rainbow at the end of our driveway |

A familiar friend from Tombstone, the red Bird's Eye |
Cranberries and Labrador Tea |
Jackpot! |
A few wonderful hours' harvest |
I'm calculating whether it's worth quitting my job |
This is actually not the best time of year for clothesline-drying. The fireweed propagates by airborne fluff, and it gets stuck to our wet clothes :) |

Our new birdhouse! It looks okay from this distance, but Dad would not be impressed by a close-up photo |
Love Lauren and Colin
