This photo from the Yukon News does a good job describing how beautiful it is here right now. The early days of February have brought us warmer weather, sunny days, and best of all, more light in the morning and evenings! Today's sunrise was at 8:58am, and the sun will set at 5.32pm. Our days are getting longer by 5 1/2 minutes, and it really makes it feel like winter is coming to an end. Just after arriving here in April, I heard from a coworker that February was her favourite time of year in the Yukon, and I had a hard time believing it until now. Especially since the snow has stayed light and fluffy and sparkly, and we are having beautiful clear skies, I think February will make it onto my list of favourite months here, along with April, May, June, July, definitely August and September, and I really liked October... you get the picture :)

I'm not sure one lunch-hour blog post can catch up with all the great things we have been up to lately, and I really want to tell you lots about the firefighting practice I went to last Thursday- I rode in Pumper 64 and sprayed the firehose! Those details will have to come soon. Tonight we are headed to Deb's to feed and hang out with her dogs and pups, because she's away in Dawson, supporting her pal Yuka who is racing in the Quest. Hopefully I can tear myself away from the 8 wiggly puppies and write more tonight!

Bye for now,
Love Lauren
