If Whitehorse doesn't work out, you can find us in Nelson, BC

Driving down the Cowboy Trail through ranchland this morning, we saw a juvenile bald eagle (a bit mangier than the adult version), a dozen or so mule deer, and herd after herd of cattle. For such giant animals, they sure are still! It was pretty foggy, so we couldn't see too far ahead, but the hills and valleys to the sides of us were pretty scenic. Later, through BC, we saw one more bald eagle, but none of the elk, big horn sheep, or avalanches that were promised to us by the road signs.

yawn or road rage? you be the judge

On the Cowboy Trail (Hwy 22)

hello mountains, we missed you

Colin almost peed his pants when we drove up to this tunnel

the snow bank on the right side is higher than an 18 wheeler

In Nelson, it is a "late" spring, everyone is complaining that it is still so cold and the flowers are not yet growing
The volume of outdoor gear stores and independent coffee shops in Nelson were a hint that we'd like this place, and the evening with Sam's parents has confirmed it.

We are staying with the Roeland's tonight and tomorrow then we are off to Vancouver via Mission (where the romance started for Lauren's great-grandparents).

Today's distance: 631km

Total distance: 5165km

NOTE: CHECK out the posting for March 19th, it now has photos.

  1. Did Colin pee out of excitement or fear?

  2. Don't think it's a yawn or road rage... looks more like he can't believe he's seeing a cow cross the road.

TeeHee, Have fun I'm really enjoying this trip too!
