Skiing at Sunshine in the Canadian Rockies

Imagine a mountain, the top of this mountain is high enough to be above the tree line and is therefore only rock covered in metres of snow. Some ways down the mountain the trees start to pop up then little forests emerge and then the mountain joins up with its neighbour. And as far as you can see while standing on the top of this mountain are more mountains each unique and each majestic.

Now think about standing there with a pair of skiis on your feet and the priviledge to go up this mountain all day long. Oh and you can go on the next two mountains too.

Here are some photos from the tops of Goat's Eye Mt, Lookout Mt, and Mt Standish.

There are 11 chair lifts (huge ones that go real fast) and a gondola that takes 15 minutes from bottom to top. The gondola is almost 2.5km long! This place has 107 different runs. It is called Sunshine Valley if you want to search it for yourself and book your next vacation :)

Bison burger, red curry tofu and BC beer for lunch.

We were there at opening and stayed til' close. Our last run took 30 minutes to complete!

Neither of us has skiied in a very long time. During the winter the Barrett family vacations almost exclusively skiing ones, although Lauren and her brother took up snowboarding when they were teenagers. Colin skiied last when he was about that age. So the adventure level today was very high.

This message comes to you from the BlackBerry, so photos will get added when the computer is on next.

For those of you who are still reading this, you may be interested that the photo essay has been added to the Wednesday, March 16th about Saskatoon.

We're exhausted!
