Emotional rollercoaster!

Whew! What highs, lows, and then more highs we have been through over the past two days.

Cookie and Smiley are in the pen, napping in the shade, after a beautiful walk this morning. The weather this weekend has been incredible, with warm sun and cool breeze. The forest around us smells incredible, and the sunny spots are bursting with little wildflowers. We have spend lots of time outdoors, walking the dogs around the Robinson loop, and just feel like the luckiest people on the planet to live here.

But we have been through some tough times in the past 24 hours... Smiley ran away from us, and was gone all day on Saturday. Yes, the first full day she lived with us. We searched and searched and called and called and she didn't show up. We were back at home in the evening, thinking that we would wait at our place in case she came back, and then we saw her a few times, at the edge of the forest and on the driveway. She finally walked back, into the pen where Colin was waiting, at 1am. She's still a bit nervous, but things are getting back to normal. Thanks to reassuring conversations with neighbours and family, we are getting over the scare of losing our dog, and we're realizing some important things about these guys.

From the happy times:

Smiley's got Buddy's old leash! And yes, we are wearing matching shirts.

Our very own leaning Husky! Cookie loves the love

There are a few exciting things happening this week- Colin's helping out with the support group for the Yukon River Quest, an incredible 740 km paddling race from Whitehorse, downstream to Dawson. And Friday is the Mt Lorne community Canada Day festivities. Colin will be assisting Agnes, the community's recreation director, with preparing a BBQ for the neighbourhood. Agnes is a fantastic cook, and was the one who cooked the Thai meal we had at the community centre back in April.

Plus, we are getting more and more excited for Samantha and Tricia's visit! Only 17 days until our pals visit and we pack in lots of Yukon (and Alaska) fun and the Dawson City Music Festival into their time here.

Miss you in Ontario,
Love Lauren and Colin

Glad to hear Smiley made it back, what a scare that must have been. She'll warm up more once she realizes what fantastic new owners she has :)

Hope you have a great time at the Dawson City Music Festival! Maybe we can make it out there with you next year :)

    Miss you both!
